accommodation
There is a range of low cost accommodation to choose from, to suit your tastes and budget:
Statenberg Manor
The Manor can accommodate up to 60 people in simple hostel rooms, situated on the second floor with shared bathrooms. These rooms have been redecorated by locals, and have second-hand furniture, with 2 to 4 beds in each room. They are configured for families or singles, so if you would like to choose this option, please let us know your needs when booking. Towels are included.
Learning Village cost is 10 Euro per night per person
Camping
In the grounds outside the Manor there is room for around 50 tents, and parking for around 10 camper vans. Participants will need to bring all their own camping equipment, and you will have access to showers and toilets on the ground floor of the Manor.
Learning village cost is 5 Euro per night per person
Hotel
While most participants prefer to stay in/around the Manor (where most action takes place – also in evenings and mornings), there is a family-run Leonardo Hotel in the nearby village of Slovenska Bistrica (15 km from the manor) available for those who enjoy more comfort, with 50 beds in total.
There are no regular bus connections from the Leonardo to the manor, so you would need your own transport, or take a taxi to and from our gathering.
Arriving at the hotel by public transport: The closest bus stop to the Leonardo is Slovenska Bistrica. Some buses (not all!) stop right in front of the hotel. Some faster buses stop only at the main station at Slovenska Bistrica (2 km from the hotel). The closest railway station is Slovenska Bistrica, 5km from the hotel. Some faster trains do not stop at Slovenska Bistrica; they do stop at Pragersko (10 km from the hotel). You will need to call a taxi to get from the train station to the hotel
Homestay
There is the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of locals for a true Slovenian experience with a homestay. Please let us know if you are interested in this. Costs will be slightly more than rooms at the Manor.

food
Buffet meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be provided at Statenberg Manor at affordable prices. Based on local produce, there will be a variety of vegetarian and meat options available. If you have any concerns about food, please let us know. If the restaurant is unable to provide what you need, we’ll let you know so you can bring special food with you. Visit the Costs page for more detail
There are no self catering facilities provided within the manor but campers are welcome to cater for themselves provided they bring their own cooking and washing equipment.

bar
The Manor also has a restaurant and bar (with wine from local producers) which will be open for the duration of the gathering. Drinks will available at reasonable prices (payable in cash – only Euro currency).
what to bring with you
- Bring enough cash (Euro) with you for the Learning Village. There is an Autobank machine in Makole (about a 15 minute walk). You may have the opportunity to purchase local produce and wine, coffee, ice cream and refreshments. There is also a small supermarket (Mercator) in Makole for emergency items and groceries.
- Appropriate clothing. This might include: relaxed clothing for warm weather, a warm jacket and long pants for cool evenings, and appropriate wet weather and sun protection gear. If you would like to spend time walking, cycling or hiking, bring appropriate footwear and clothing. Also be prepared for possible stings from local wasps or mosquitos.
- One of the longer term Manor projects is a library, and we are looking for contributions in all languages and for all ages. If you have books, or children's toys or craft materials you may wish to leave here when you go, they would be most welcome!
- Yoga or sitting mats come in very handy during the learning village, as an easy way to sit on the ground, indoors or outdoors. If you have one you can bring, please do!
- An important part of being part of a village is celebration, so we encourage you to bring along anything that will support celebration and creative expression. Songs, stories, books, art supplies, musical instruments, costumes, props or anything else! Last year we had bagpipes, which created some special memories for all of us...
- Harvesting, or creating a record of what we have learned together is important. If you have materials to help with this, please bring them along too

Wi-fi
Free wi-fi is available in the courtyard and parts of the Manor.
Pets
Pets are welcome! Please let us know when you register if you intend to bring them along. There are three lovely peacocks that live at the Manor, they are very sociable and the source of much amusement, especially when they do their 'sexy dance'.
Washing
Wondering if you will have enough underwear to last you the week? :) There is a washing machine in the apartment which you can use, for a 4 euro donation to Foundation Statenberg (shared loads welcome). There is a simple clothes line for drying. We ask that you bring your own detergent, or you can use our environmentally friendly version.
